- Experiment an active headline, active headlines will replace your normal ads to what all the searchers are searching for.
So if your searcher types in, “cars”, this will appear in the headline
And if the searcher types in a phrase such as “cheap affordable cars,” then it will slip back to your old headline
Use that phrase by inputting in as, {KeyWord:affordable cars} in the headline section of your ad “affordable cars” is your default headline.
Bare in mind that the “K” and “W” are capitalized in “KeyWord”. For example “Affordable Cars” this means the search phrase will be capitalized. In this case, “Affordable Cars” instead of “Affordable cars” that’s if you input it as (Keyword).
Active headlines will almost always boost your click rate considerably, but it will also reduce the quality of traffic you will get.
You should experiment with active headlines. Once you have experimented that active headline in and you Adgroup are producing low-quality traffic, then you throw the active headline and a qualifier instead.
I’ve got some examples for a qualifier are to add a price to your ads, using words such as “For serious customers only”, buy now”, or use word that will send a message out to your targeted customers to click on your ad.
Also you might want to try adding words around your active headline such as “Unique {Keyword:Furniture}”, this works very well in Adroups with only a few keywords.
- Testing ad positions – the highest one is always isn’t the best
You need to bare in mind that the number on position on the search will produce HUGE traffic, but that does not mean it will produce the best quality traffic.
As an alternative you can constantly adjust your bids, based on several day data collected, to target lower positions instead. Depending on your market you may want to target lower positions such as position three or four.
Keep in mind many bidders daily budgets cut off their campaigns at the end of the day, this means you can grab that part at a fraction of the cost, if you keep it out for too long it can be taken.
- Use site selection correctly – Site selection allows advertisers to place their ads on specific sites.
It is completely different than search traffic and varies from normal content ads.
Instead of paying per click, your paying for impressions (or how many times your ads been seen) This can benefit some businesses or a huge waste of money for others.
It all depends on the market, some markets produce terrible traffic with search engine traffic but are excellent for site selection traffic, you might thinking whys that?
Its frequently because a market is in its early years, that means the target will not search for what you have to offer.
As an alternative the only way the target market can be reached is by reaching out to that community, these communities will be sites such as Blogs, forums or news sites.

Very small ranges of people are looking to do this, but there are a lot of blogs publishers may easily be convinced that this is something they need to be doing.
The main point is, if you get good results with search engine traffic, then you may want to pay per click for your content advertising, the only exception is if you have an ultimate ad that generates a large amount of clicks, it will cheaper to pay for impressions.
